Awaken

Awaken is an award-winning first person exploration game, where everything is not as it seems. The game was created by a team of fourth year students in the Brock University's Interactive Arts and Science program.

In the game you play as Hope Richmond, who wakes up in an unfamiliar room with no memory. Armed, at first, with only a flashlight, you will uncover mysteries that reveal who you are and how to escape the seemingly ordinary world around you. The game features an intuitive dialogue tree with binaural sound that lets you decide the outcome of important events.

I was the lead level designer on the project, which included researching, designing, and iterating the layout of the game. Along with level design, I took an active role assisting the art department with models, textures, and mood board. Placing 3D assets and textures in UDK browser and building materials. I determined what types of models were needed and set dressed each of the areas within the game. I assisted with sound and animation implementation in addition to lighting design and particle effects.

In terms of marketing, I assisted in the creation of our social media campaigns and attended Level Up Showcase where our game won Best Game 2013. On behalf of my team, I attended many event such as: UGC, THATCamp Immerse, and ConBravo!.
